One of life’s many paradoxes is that at some point everyone feels inwardly alone, struggling, trying to hide a secret sense of self that they think few others would understand or accept — almost everyone knows this experience! We’re opening the closet doors of our shared human experience.
Welcome!
It’s a challenge to be fully human. Life truly is messy and our contemporary world doesn’t give us much help in knowing how to live with a sense of belonging here on earth, with a spacious heart, guided by our trustworthy inner authority (rather than the inner critic), and connected to all of life and the Great Mystery.
Many of us have experienced the tug between our day-to-day, familiar ways of living informed by the ego and our spiritual nature, as if they are two distinct parts of ourselves. This sense of an inner division inevitably contributes to a belief that we are disconnected from wholeness, and feeling that we have lost some irretrievable part of ourselves.
Nothing has been lost, just covered over. To recover our wholeness and true Self, we first uncover it by looking in places we otherwise wouldn’t think to notice. In my early spiritual exploration, I, too, looked in the wrong places and bypassed the real thing.
I have spent the last 20 years studying, researching, teaching, coaching and writing about the relationship between the personality and Essence, what it means to be human and how being willing to be fully human, to accept the full range of your nature, makes a profound difference on the planet.
